We are here to serve the public, ensuring that the tax burden is distributed fairly throughout our county. We are required to value property uniformly, as close to “Fair Market Value” as possible. All the while, making certain that our mass appraisal property valuations conform to Georgia State Law

As a policy making board for the maintaining of proper assessment levels, uniformity between classes of properties, uniformity between property owners, and maintenance of a qualified and educated staff.

  1. As a review board in the initial phase of the appeal process.

  2. As the real and personal valuation review board by:
    a.    Approving valuation rates and rate changes for both types of property.
    b.    Evaluating internal audits involving sales/assessment ratio studies and sales data to        determine the need of updates or revaluations.

Scheduled meetings (other than the appeal reviews) will be held at 6:00 PM the first Tuesday of each month. If the regular meeting is a holiday, the meeting will be held on the following Tuesday.

The Echols County Tax Assessors office will be reviewing Property between the dates of January 1st thru July 1st of each calendar year as their normal course of reviews for, New Construction, Homestead Applications, Agriculture Covenants, Additions, Remodeling, Reviewing Permits, Taxpayer Returns, Deed Transactions, Deletions, and Property Owner Requests. Pre-Billed Mobile Homes will be reviewed May 15th thru October 31st for Proper Display of the Current Year Decal and for any Additions, Deletions or Changes to the property.  If you have any questions feel free to Contact the Tax Assessors office at P.O.
